Now stop…CAPTCHA Time.

If you haven't come across this before CAPTCHA is basically the little security thing that protects people from spam. It uses two words one that is simple and easy to read while the other is a different word entirely and looks somewhat like this. CAPTCHA is a play on words because it also sounds like the word capture and it captures the bots.

Capturing the spambots is only one of the two jobs that the CAPTCHA was designed to do, the second job is to translate words as the second word you type out is a word from an archaic book. CAPTCHA is used to determine what these words are and helps people preserve them online for future generations. I know that it's annoying to have to fill out but it helps the world digitize books to keep on the internet and to keep spam away from whatever or whoever you're viewing.
